The Department of Foreign Affairs today announced that eight Chinese tennis players - four men and four women - will visit Melbourne for four weeks of coaching in April. The visit is part of the official program of cultural exchanges between Australia and the Peoples Republic of China.

A team of Australian tennis players led by Neale Fraser visited China in 1976, and because of the interest that the visit stimulated, the Australian Government agreed to arrange for eight of China's most promising tennis players to undergo coaching in Australia. .

The Lawn Tennis Association of Australia has arranged coaching at Kcoyong from 3 to 28 April, under the guidance of top Melbourne club professionals, Don Trepanning, Ian Occleshaw and Neale Gainey = The Chinese players will not take part in competition matches during their stay.

The Chinese group will be led by Mr Liu Huai-tang, Secretary-General of the China Tennis' Association. The other members of the group are: .
