RELEASE OF SCHOOLS COMMISSION REPORT FOR 1979 -

STATEMENT BY SENATOR THE HON. J. L. GARRICK .

I have today released the Report of the Schools COmmission for

1979 which has "been prepared in response to the guidelines

issued by the Government, on 9 June 1978.

The Report makes recommendations on the allocations of funds

to government and non-government schools in the States for 1979

I am releasing the.Report at the earliest opportunity for the .

benefit of State and non-government school authorities.

The Government ,!S decisions on the recommendations will be v . · «i * · : · ■ : ■ ’ ' ' ■. ■ ' ·

announced as soon as possible in the Parliament during the

forthcoming Budget Sittings. ■ ■ · . · . ·

A summary of the Commission’s financial recommendations for

1979 is shown in the attached table (where the figures are

quoted in estimated December 1977 prices). -

Details of the Government’s guidelines are appended at page 17

of the Commission’: s Report. .
