Singaporean soldiers to train in Australia

The Australian Army's 1st Division

Headquarters, located in Brisbane, will conduct a

command and signals exercise with the Singapore Armed

Forces in the Oakey district of Queensland, during March,

the Minister for Defence, Mr D.J. Killen, said today.

About 280 members of the 5th Singapore .

Infantry Brigade will take part in the exercise,

nicknamed "On Drive".

The main aim of the exercise is to carry out.

training in all aspects of staff work, procedures and

deployment in offensive operations.

Australian Army officers will be attached

to the SAF unit to assist in familiarisation with

Australian procedures.
