STATEMENT DEPARTMENT OF THE CAPITAL TERRITORY- FOR PRESS

The Department of the Capital Territory is to help people know their

birds in special sessions at the Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve from

1 January - 25 February. . :

Up to 30 species not normally seen on the ACT ,flatlands are at

Tid'binbi'ila now including lyre birds, Cape Barren geese, yellow-tailed

black cockatoos, eagles, and hawks.

Departmental officers will explain the basic techniques of bird

identification on Mondays and at weekends from 9 am - 12 noon.

Other simultaneous activities at the reserve will be guided nature

walks, wildlife watching and eucalypt identification.
