The Minister for Business and Consumer Affairs, Mr-Ual.

technological changes since then, the By-lau is nou being used for

purposes other than those for which it uas originally intended. The

Commission has been requested to report on this matter by 31 January,

1979.

The Minister also said that he had invited the Commission's

attention to a number of By-laus available to rau material inputs for

use in the textile and associated industries. These concessions

could have a significant impact on any measures recommended by the

Commission in the context of the long term assistance to be accorded

the textile industry.

Therefore, the Commission has been asked to make specific

comments and suggestions in relation to these By-laus in both its

draft and final reports of its current inquiry into the textile
