MINISTERS TO DISCUSS CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

The Attorney-General, Mr R. J. Ellicott, Q.C.,

said today that Federal and State Ministers concerned with

censorship would meet in Sydney tomorrow to discuss the

question of the distribution of child pornography.

The meeting had been convened because of the concern

expressed in several States about the distribution and sale of

pornographic material featuring children-.

Mr Ellicott said the meeting in Sydney tomorrow

would consider recommendations by Federal and State officials

on what measures could be taken to prevent the sale and

distribution of pornographic material of this kind.

The Ministers would also be considering matters

referred for further examination from the last Ministerial .

meeting in February. . '

They would receive a report from the Chief Common

wealth Film Censor, Mr R. J. Prowse, on the practicability

of applying an additional classification which would place

limitations on the type of *R* certificate film that could ,

be shown in drive-in theatres.
