' ASIAN TOUR BY ADSTRALIAN YOUTH ORCHESTRA

The A u s tra lia n Youth O rch estra w i l l le av e Sydney today f o r

a co n ce rt to u r of Asia., which has been arranged and sponsored by th e

Department of F o reig n A f f a ir s .

The o rc h e s tra has been formed from th e o u tsta n d in g p la y e rs

a t th e annual N a tio n a l Music Camp which has j u s t concluded in

A d elaid e. The ages o f i t s 76 p la y e rs range from 15 to 25 years..

During t h i s to u r , which w i l l co n tin u e u n t i l m id-February,

th e o rc h e s tra w ill g iv e c o n c e rts in th e P h ilip p in e s , Jap an , th e

R epublic o f Korea and Hong Kong, where i t w ill p a r t i c i p a t e in th e

Hong Kong A rts F e s t i v a l . .

I t w ill be d ir e c te d by Mr John H opkins, Dean o f Music a t

th e V ic to ria n C ollege of th e A rts . Two i f i t s members a re a Korean

v i o l i n i s t , Mr Chang Min Soo, and a bass, p la y e r, from th e P h ilip p in e s ,
