FEDERAL MONEY FOR MENTAL HEALTH HOSTEL IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA

The Federal Government is to provide funds which ’ . ! . ' ' '

will enable the Western Australian Mental Health Services

to purchase premises for a hostel for mentally defective

people.

The Minister for Health, Dr D.N. Everingham, said

today that up to $90,000 had been approved for the project

under the Federal Government's Community Mental Health program

for 1973/74. • . : ■ · ·â–  . , . ' . ■ ί . ■ ' ■ ■

The money is in addition to a grant of $866,400

previously made to Western Australia for its mental health

program in 1973/74. :

Dr Everingham said that the Western Australian

Mental Health Services hoped to use the Federal grant to

convert a suitable building to provide living and training

facilities for 20 moderately retarded adults.
