VISIT BY INDONESIAN OFFICIAL· .

■ Major-General Ali Murtopo, Personal Assistant for ■ Political Affairs to President Suharto of Indonesia, will arrive in Australia this week for a brief official visit.

The Department of Foreign Affairs announced today that Major-General Ali would visit Perth, Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne and Papua New Guinea. He would mee.t the Prime

Minister and other Federal Ministers, Opposition leaders, senior Australian Government officials, academics and businessmen. '

Major-General Ali is interested in resources policies and will call on the Minister for Minerals and Energy, Mr Connor, and pay a short visit to mining and minerals-handling installations in Western Australia. He will also pursue

this interest in Papua New Guinea where he will inspect the Bougainville Copper project,

. . -He will arrive in Perth tomorrow, fly to Canberra on 6 October, go to Papua New Guinea on 10 October- and then return to Australia on 13 October to visit Sydney and Melbourne before going on to New Zealand on 16 October.

- He will be accompanied by his Private Secretary, Mr Yusuf Wanandi, his Economics Adviser* Dr Daud Yusuf, by Mr Agus Sudono, President of the Indonesian Federation of Trade

Unions, and by Mr Chudori of ANTARA Newsagency.
