CONFERENCE ON WELFARE OF OVERSEAS STUDENTS

A two day conference will be held in Canberra by

the Department of Foreign Affairs on 23 and 24 August to

discuss overseas student welfare.

.... It will be attended by delegates from community

organisations, Government departments concerned with students

from developing countries, and leaders of overseas and

Australian student bodies. A number of Embassies in Canberra,

whose countries are represented in the overseas student

programs, have been invited to send observers.

Special papers will be presented to the conference

by Professor G„ A. German, Professor of Psychiatry at the

University of Western Australia, and Mr John Dunham, Senior

Lecturer in Indian Studies, University of Melbourne.

Mr Max Loveday, First Assistant Secretary, Development

Division, Department of Foreign Affairs, will open the ·

conference at 9 a.m. on Thursday, 23 August, in the Institution

of Engineers Building, National Circuit, Barton.
