T he L ab o r G o v ern m en t is abandoning its re s p o n s ib ilitie s to th e to ta l A u s tra lia n com m unity to a p p ea se th e la b o r m ovem ent, the D eputy L e a d e r of th e O pposition, M r. L ynch, sa id today.

M r. L ynch sa id th e L a b o r G o v ern m en t in te r f e r e d w here it had no p o w e rs, but fa iled to do anything c o n stru c tiv e in a r e a s w h ere it could e x e rc is e a u th o rity . ach iev e w ages and b e n e fits th ey cannot convince th e a p p ro p ria te trib u n a ls a r e f a ir and ju s t.

would be to re d u c e G o v e rn m e n t in te rfe re n c e and in te rv e n tio n in in d u s tria l m a tte r s .

"B ut one would have to be an e x tr e m i s t to b e liev e su c h a pledge is fu lfilled by

re d u c in g g o v ern m en t in te rfe re n c e and in te rv e n tio n to z e ro , " th e D eputy O pposition L e a d e r s a id .

"W hen s tr ik e s a r e cau sin g havoc, th e G o v ern m en t h a s a re s p o n s ib ility to a ll th e people - - not ju s t to tra d e u n io n is ts ."
