M r. P eaco ck sa id th a t p r io r to the 1972 e le ctio n , A u s tra lia had been am ong the w orld le a d e rs in the p ro p o rtio n of o v e rs e a s aid given co m p ared to its G ro s s N ational P ro d u c t. .

He sa id th e c o u n try ’s a b ilit to s u s ta in th is p ro g ra m m e had been dependent on stro n g and efficien t r u r a l and m an u factu rin g in d u s trie s . M r.
