30 July 1 9 7 6 — The Acting Leader of the Opposition, the Hon. Tom Uren, said in Canberra today that the Fraser Government's actions in selectively leaking Budget information to special interest groups had benefited private investors and specific private companies at the expense of ordinary Australians.

Trading on sharemarkets in Sydney and Melbourne yesterday boosted the All-Ordinaries Index to two year peaks. The pre-Budget disclosures by the Minister Assisting the Treasurer. Mr Robinson and sources close to the Acting Prime Minister had caused this and have brought windfall profits to some investors and enormous increases in the values of select companies, Mr Uren said.

In fact an analysis of this index since the beginning of April to the present time shows • that the All-Ordinaries Index has risen 54 points in Sydney and 24 points in Melbourne. I This rise tended to support the persistent rumours that the Prime Minister had disclosed the Government's Budget strategies in private talks with businessmen over the last few

months, Mr Uren said. The naked bias of the Fraser Government for the profit sector coupled with their ; continuing attack on the wage-earner should be condemned by all fair minded Australians. Mr Uren concluded by once again calling on the Government to hold an ■ immediate and independent investigation into the nature and extent of pre-Budget leaks.
