FULL PAYMENT OF WHEAT DELIVERED IN THE WEST

Wheatgrowers in Western Australia will receive the full first

advance payment of $1.20 a bushel on all wheat delivered this season.

The Minister for Primary Industry, Senator Ken Wriedt said this

afternoon that deliveries of grain were expected to be about 30 million

bushels above Western Australia's original quota of 112.6 million '

bushels. Because of ideal growing conditions, Western Australia was

the only State to overfill its quota allocation this season.

Senator Wriedt said that the Australian Agricultural Council

which met in Hobart today had agreed that all of this season's national

contingency quota of 20 million bushels, as well as approximately

11 million bushels shortfall from other States, would be allocated to

Western Australian wheatgrowers.
