Health Services Evaluation Seminars


The Minister for Health, Mr Ralph Hunt, announced today that he had approved a grant of $20 000 for a series of training

seminars to increase the number of trained health services

evaluators in Australia and to improve techniques for the

evaluation of health care.

. The project is being funded by the Hospitals and Health

Services Commission and will be conducted by the School of

Public Health and Tropical Medicine at The University of Sydney.

Supported by a small Committee of expert advisers,

the School will develop material to be used in a program of six one-week long training Seminars in each of the State capitals.

The content of these Seminars will be decided in conjunction with State and Commonwealth health authorities and with representatives

of private health care providers.

The Minister said that this project was the third in

a series of planned initiatives commenced by the Commission in 1975. These activities have been conducted in close cooperation with the State health authorities and private health care organisations.

Persons who are currently engaged in health services

evaluation, and are interested to attend one of the seminars, are invited to write to Professor L.A.G. Davidson giving a brief outlineof their projects.
