HIGH COMMISSIONER TO KENYA

The Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr Andrew Peacock, today announced the appointment of Mr Η.Α» Dunn as Australia's new High Commissioner to Kenya.

Mr Dunn, an experienced career diplomat, will take up his appointment in November. He will succeed Mr W.P.J. Handmer, who has been High Commissioner since 1974. Mr Handmer is taking up another assignment.

Mr Dunn, 54, a graduate of the University of Queensland and a Rhodes Scholar for Queensland to the University of Oxford in 1948, has been Assistant Secretary in charge of the Executive Secretariat in the Department

of Foreign Affairs since 1976. A former Ambassador to Argentina, Peru, Uruguay and Paraguay, Mr Dunn has also served in Tokyo, Seoul, Washington and Saigon, as well as attending the Indian National Defence College in 1966.

He is married with one daughter. .
