D/9 10th February, 1971MANAQEMFKT AND LIBRARIANS1 COURSESThe Department of Foreign Affairs announced in Canberra today that two International Courses commenced in Canberra.on 9th February, 1971. The courses are included in Australia's 1970/71 Aid programme.A 10 weeks course in Management Services includes lu ' representatives from 11 overseas countries. Twenty-three librarians from 14 countries in Asia, A.frica and the South Pacific regions are attending a course of twelve weeks duration in the administration of library and information services.For the first five weeks both grouics will be combined for a management·segment. This is the first time that two International courses will be combined in this manner, but the segment has been designed to meet a demand from the developing countries for administrative training.An intensive study of Australian practice will be made during visits to Commonwealth and State Departments and other organisations in several capital cities.f ΛThese will be the first International Training courses to be conducted in Librarianship and Management Services.
