APPOINTMENT OF AUSTRALIAN AMBASSADOR TO ^YUGOSLAVIA AND ROMANIA

' The Minister for Foreign Affairs, the Hon. Leslie

Bury, M.P., announced today the appointment of Mr. R.H. Robertson

as Australian Ambassador to Yugoslavia in succession to Mr. R.R.

Fernandez, who has been appointed Minister in the Australian Embassy

in Washington. Mr. Robertson will be concurrently Ambassador to

Romania. Normally he will be resident in Belgrade and will visit

Romania from time to time.

Mr. Robertson is a senior career officer of the Department

of Foreign Affairs who is at present an Assistant Secretary of the

Department in Canberra. He joined the Department in 1952 and has served

in Karachi, New York and Washington, in addition to service in Canberra.

Mr. Robertson is married with two sons and one daughter.
