Seven two-year research training fellowships recommended by the Education

Research and Development Committee were announced today.

Three were awarded to Victorians. They are: Mr J.W. Benson and

Mr B. Hodgson, both secondary teachers with the Victorian Department of

Education, and Mr A.A. Mackenzie, an RAAF education officer stationed at

Victoria Barracks. Melbourne,

Other recipients are: Dr C.J. Woodruff, formerly of Tasmania but now

lecturing at the University of Khon Kaen, Thailand;_ Mr R.J. Broadfoot, a

secondary teacher with the NSW Department of Education; Mr B.G. McBryde, a

research officer with the Queensland Department of Education; and

Mr M.J. O' Callaghan, a lecturer at the Churchlands College of Advanced

Education in Western Australia. .

The fellowships have been awarded as part of the ERDC's program to train

educational researchers.

The fellovrships will allow the recipients to undertake full-time studies

for a Master's degree in educational research and practical training in

appropriate research organisations. ■

The awards are currently tenable at the Monash, Queensland and Sydney

universities only, but it is hoped to expand the scheme to include other

institutions in 1977.
