For the academic year 1974/75 the Italian Government is offering eight scholarships to Australian citizens wishing to follow postgraduate courses of any kind in Italy (courses of Italian language and literature, research programs, etc.)

Four· scholarships will be awarded preferably to University lecturers, teachers, graduates and students who wish, on their return to Australia, to teach Italian at any school level and to specialise in Italian language, literature and culture.

The four remaining scholarships are exchange scholarships with the Universities of Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, and the · Australian National University.

Candidates are expected to be in Italy'at the beginning of the academic year ( 1 November 1974). They may choose any Italian University for their studies but no change of University, program or date of commencement is permitted.

There are also two short-term scholarships for courses which last from 1 July to 51 December 1975 and do not entitle a return ticket.

Formal applications should be presented personally by 28 February 1974 (for short-term scholarships, by 31 December 1974), to the Italian Consulates in the State capitals or to the Italian Embassy in Canberra on the official forms supplied by said

authorities, together with :

(a) Original or copy of the University degree · ··

(b) Statement of the studies accomplished and marks received on each subject

(c) Medical certificate stating that the applicant'is in good physical condition.
