^ * The Australian Minister for Education, ·

Mr. Kim Beazley today announced grants worth $386,829 under the Schools Commission's program for educational innovation.

• The grants will go to teachers and community groups for projects involving new approaches to education in primary and secondary government and non-government schools. -

The ninety-nine grants announced today are additional to 283 projects worth $2,185,818 already funded under the program.

The Australian Government has allocated $6 million for the Innovations Program over 1974 and 1975·

The funding of such a program was recommended by the Karmel Committee in its Report, "Schools in Australia" published in mid-1973· ·

The Innovations Program is aimed at encouraging projects which will promote change and progress in Australian schools. ■
