RAAF AIDS MALAYSIAN CHILDREN

Two Malaysian children suffering from congenital

heart conditions are to be flown by RAAF Hercules aircraft

from Malaysia to Sydney for medical treatment.

The children are Stella Subramanium, aged 5 years,

the daughter of a civilian employed by the RAAF at Air Base

Butterworth, and Vigneswaran Nayar, aged 3 years, whose mother

is employed by a RAAF family living near Air Base Butterworth.

^Both children require corrective surgery which will

be carried out at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Camperdown.

The operations are to be carried out in Sydney because of the

long waiting time for heart surgery in Malaysia.

The children will travel on a routine Hercules flight

from Butterworth on July 18, with a RAAF nursing sister in

attendance. One parent will accompany each child.
