- NEW ARMY COMMANDER IN WESTERN AUSTRALIA. '

A new Commander for the 5th Military District

(Western Australia) will take up his appointment on

June 28, 1982.

He is Brigadier R.D.F. Lloyd who currently

holds a senior staff appointment in the Department of

Defence, Canberra. · .

BIOGRAPHICAL DETAILS .

Brigadier Russell D.F. Lloyd was born in Western

Australia in 1930 and attended the Hale School.

After graduation from the Royal Military College

he served in Korea as a platoon commander in 1952-53. In

this campaign he was awarded the Military Cross.

' " · ' · Brigadier Lloyd has served in a wide variety of '

p o s t i n g s b o t h in Australia and overseas, and also commanded

the-Australian Army Training Team, Vietnam, for 12 months

from February 1969. ' ‘

Commandant of the 1st Recruit Training Battalion at Wagga,

Brigadier Lloyd was appointed Defence Attache in the .

Brigadier Lloyd is the younger son of the

late Brigadier J.E. Lloyd, a distinguished soldier of

two world wars, who was well known to West Australians.
