ARMY INSTRUCTORS FOR UGANDA

Two Australian soldiers have arrived in Uganda

to join a Commonwealth military training team. Two other

Australians will join the team later.this month.

Uganda has appealed for collective Commonwealth

assistance in training its military forces as part of the

program of national reconstruction.

The Australian team is drawn from 6th Brigade

(Enoggera, Brisbane) and is headed by Major A.L. Casey,

of Brisbane. ‘

There is also a warrant officer and two sergeants

in the team. All are experienced infantrymen.

Their task is to help train warrant officers ยท

and non-commissioned officers of the Uganda Army as '

x- instructors in weapon handling, field craft and minor tactics.

The Australian team expects to be in Uganda for

six months, after which it may be replaced by another

Australian group. * * ** ** **
