The RAAF provided intensive medical care for a road

accident victim during a C130 Hercules flight from Townsville,

Qld, to Melbourne.

The patient, David Stone, 21, became a quadraplegic

following a road accident in north Queensland and had to be

flown to Melbourne for specialist treatment at the spinal

unit of the Austin Hospital.

The cargo section of the Hercules was converted into

a mini intensive care ward for the flight, and the patient

was attended by a RAAF medical team.

j The aircraft arrived at Laverton, Vic, at 12.35 .

this afternoon and a RAAF ambulance with a police escort

transferred the patient to the hospital.

At last report his condition was satisfactory.
