INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

Australia has sent an Army delegation to the

nineteenth in a series of high level conferences being held

in Montreal, Canada.

The Minister for Defence, Mr D.J. Killen, said

today the conference, attended by representatives of the American, British and Australian Armies and the Canadian Armed Forces, was held in each of the four countries in turn.

The Australian delegation to the Canadian conference

is led by the Chief of Operations, Major General J.I. Williamson.

The purpose of the discussions is to review progress and issue guidance in the ABCA Armies Standardisation Programme.

This programme, which Australia joined in 1964, aims at achieving maximum standardisation of procedures, weapons and

equipment among the armies of the four countries.
