WEDNESDAY, 19 FEBRUARY, 1975 No. 433/75


(Statement by the Minister for Defence, the Hon. L.H. Barnard, M.P.)

. Group Captain Frank Morton Griggs, the present

officer Commanding RAAF Base, Townsville, Queensland, has

been appointed Honorary Aide-de-Camp to the Queen, the

Minister for Defence, Mr Lance Barnard,said today.

He takes up his appointment on 12 April, 1975.

Group Captain Griggs flew as a bomber pilot

in World War II and has subsequently held many senior

RAAF appointments. These include Director of Operations

(Bomber), Commanding Officer No. 1 Squadron, Commanding

Officer No. 2 Squadron in Malaysia, and Deputy Director

Operational Requirements, Department of Air.

He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Medal

and the Distinguished Flying Cross during World War II,

and Bar to his DFC for his services with No. 1 Squadron

during the Malayan Emergency.
