AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE FORCE EMPLOYMENT STATISTICS

MAY 1982

The total strength of the Permanent Defence Force

was 73»287 at the end of May 1982, compared with 73»4o4

at the end of April 1982, the Minister for Defence,

Mr Ian Sinclair, said today.

The strengths of the individual Services were:

Navy 17,528; Army 32,994; and Air Force 22,765. .

The Permanent Defence Force

Mr Sinclair said that enlistments for the month

totalled 256, comprising 220 male and 36 female enlistments.

Reserve Forces

At the end of May, Reserve Forces with training

obligations totalled 33,984, of which 30,347 comprised the

effective strength of the Citizen Military Forces’ component

of the Army Reserves. * * * * * * * *
