REFERENCE TO TARUF.F BOARD FOR DUMPING INQUIRY

Following overseas inquiries into complaints of dumping, the Minister for Customs and Excise, on 20 April 1972, signed a reference to the Tariff Board covering'the following commodity:

Petrol, that is to say, gasoline having a flash point of less than 73 fahrenheit when tested in an Abel Pensky closed test apparatus.

Provisional anti-dumping action (cash securities) has been imposed on the above goods exported to Australia on and after 31 August 1971.

REFERENCE TO TARIFF BOARD FOR BY-LAW INQUIRY

The Minister for Customs and Excise, on 20 April 1972, signed references to the Tariff Board covering the following commodities :

(i) insecticides, fungicides, weed-killers etc, formulated" from imported ingredients

(ii) cotton yarns for use, in the manufacture of yarns of a kind ordinarily used by hand

(iii) parts for use in the manufacture of ball point pens with a retail price in excess of one dollar .

The references require the Tariff Board to inquire and report whether any of the above commodities should be accorded by-law entry pursuant to Item 19 of the Second Schedule to the Customs Tariff 1966-1972, and if so what conditions should the

concessional entry be subject to.

The Minister also directed that the inquiry and report on these matters may be made by a single member of the Board.
