CUSTOMS CONVENTION ON THE TEMPORARY IMPORTATION OF PEDAGOGIC MATERIAL AUSTRALIAN ..SIGNATURE,

The Minister for Customs and Excise has announced that Australia has become a contracting party to the Convention for the Temporary Importation of Pedagogic Materials,

Australia signed the Convention on 25 June 1971 without reservation of ratification. The Convention will enter into force, three months after the date of signature, on 25 September 1971.

The Convention provides for the temporary admission, free of import duties and taxes, of material for education or vocational training.

The aim of the Convention is to stimulate economic and social progress throughout the world by providing a means for facilitating the exchange internationally of new instructional ideas and techniques.

It was drawn up by the Customs Co-operation Council, in conjunction with the United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organisation.
