Australian manufacturers have sought assistance under the Dumping and Subsidies Act against imports of the undermentioned goods :

Metal Cutting Guillotine Shears

Metal Forming Press Brakes (Presses)

Shotgun and Rimfire Cartridges

Artificial resin moulding compounds of the thermoplastic type, viz :

(a) compounds containing lubricants, including polytetrafluorethylene, molybdenum disulphide, graphite, silicon and the like,

(b) compounds reinforced with glass, carbon, asbestos and like fibres, and

(c) polypropylene resin filled with Talc.

The department has commenced dumping enquiries and the official notifications will appear in the Commonwealth Gazette at an early date.

The purpose of the notifications is to give wide publicity to the fact that the department is conducting dumping investigations.

The possibility of dumping duties becoming payable subseĀ­ quently with retrospective effect should not be overlooked.
