GOODS NO LONGER UNDER DUMPING INVESTIGATION

Commonwealth Gazette notifications that the following goods were subject to dumping investigation have been withdrawn :

silicone rubber, heat vulcanising t y p e .

inquiries have shown that assistance under the Customs Tariff (Dumping and Subsidies) Act is inappro­ priate and that no case exists for reference to the Tariff Board.

SEX MANUALS

The Minister for Customs and Excise has recently considered the importation of 11 publications relating to sexual techniques.

He has decided that of the 11 publications nine should be prohibited and two r e l e a s e d .

There are provisions in the regulations for the release of p r oh ib it ed publications u nd er certain conditions to persons who have a genuine need for them, even though the publications are not av ailable to the com mu ni ty generally. These provisions are included in the regulations to permit approval for the release of prohi bi te d literature for p os t ­ graduate or original research and for use as reference m at er ia l in the practice of professions such as law or medicine. R e s e a r c h e r s , medical practitioners, psychiatrists, a r t i s t s , and authors are among the categories of persons who take advantage of the provision.

The publications on sexual techniques w h i c h have now b e e n p ro hi bi te d will be available under the special release provisions. However, in the case of these parti cu la r books, a pp l ic at ions from persons such as marriage guidance coun­

s e l l e r s , clergymen or social workers vrill be considered favourably.
