o Dumping of Chain referred to Tariff Board Statement by the Minister for Customs and Excise, (Senator the Hon. Malcolm Scott)

Australian manufacturers had sought assistance under the

Dumping and Subsidies Act against imports of machine driving and sprocket roller chain sold to Australia at alleged dumping prices.

The goods were notified in the Commonwealth Gazette of

9th November, 1967 and subsequent overseas inquiries revealed imports at dumping prices.

The Minister for Customs and Excise (Senator Malcolm Scott)

said this in Canberra today (5th June).

He said "I have referred this commodity to the Tariff Board for inquiry and report, in terms of Section 7 of the Customs Tariff (Dumping and Subsidies) Act". .

In the meantime anti-dumping cash securities applicable

from 30th November, 1967, will continue to be collected where export prices are less than normal values.
