MINISTER FOR BUSINESS AND CONSUMER AFFAIRS

■ TRADE PRACTICES TRIBUNAL ' ■ .

The Minister for Business and Consumer Affairs,

the Honourable Ual. Fife M.P., today announced the appointment

of Professor John McB. Grant as a member, of the Trade Practices

Tribunal.

Professor Grant who is 53, has been Professor of ·

Applied Economics at the University of Tasmania since 1960.

He has written widely in the area of economics and business

finance.

' In 1964 Professor Grant was appointed by the

Tasmanian Government as Royal Commissioner into Prices and .

Restrictive Trade Practices in Tasmania. In 1970 he was

appointed Chairman of the Board of Inquiry into the Marketing

of Tasmanian Apples and Pears.

The Minister said that Professor Grant's

appointment would be for a term of 5 years from 9 September

1977.
