Extension Fellowships

T h e Minister for Agriculture, Senator Ken Wriedt,

today announced that applications for Australian Agricultural Council Extension Fellowships are being invited by advertisement in the national press and professional journals»

The Fellowships provide for persons engaged in agricultural extension and appropriately related fields to undertake post-graduate/post-diploma study leading to higher degrees or diplomas; to engage in research or to

undertake a study tour or special investigation» Provision is made within the Scheme for. some awards to be tenable overseas .

Senator VJriedt said that the key objectives of the awards are to encourage and promote scholarship and leadership in the field of agricultural extension by providing opportunities for a wide range of persons working in the field of. agricultural extension to

undertake extension research and training, The awards are part of the broad program financed by ;the Commonwealth Extension Services Grant.

Senator Wriedt added that the awards will be competitive and considered on a national basis. Benefits will be similar to those available under other Australian Government post-graduate award schemes. Additional-,

information on the terms and conditions relating to the Fellowship Scheme is available from the Secretary, Australian Department of Agriculture, Canberra.
