PHOTOGRAPHIC DISPLAY FOR ALICE SPRINGS

A photographic display drawing attention to the work of Aboriginal organisations and individuals in Central Australia has been mounted in the Alice Springs Todd Mall by the Department of Aboriginal Affairs.

: The Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Senator "Fred \ - Chaney, said today the aim of the display was to inform tourists J and townspeople of Aboriginal activity in Alice Springs.

. The pictures depict the activities of Aboriginal organisations in the town, housing conditions in town camps, training programs available to Aboriginals in the Centre and traditional arts and crafts.

The Minister said an information unit would soon be established in the Regional Office to service Aboriginal organisations and communities and other people interested in Aboriginal affairs.

The display will run until July. It is staffed by officers of the Department of Aboriginal Affairs Alice Springs Regional Office who will answer any inquiries from the public.
