Minister to meet Aboriginals on land rights

The Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Mr*. Viner will have a meeting in Canberra tomorrow (Thursday) with a group of . Aboriginals from Central Australia to discuss land rights..

The group will also meet the Prime Minister,. Mr. Fraser.

M r . Viner said the meeting had been arranged at the request of Mr. Neville Perkins, General Secretary of the Central Australian Aboriginal Congress. Mr. Perkins, together with Messrs Winton Rabuntja, Harry Nelson-Jagamar a, Simon Enalunga,

Johnny Linch and Winton Foster, had been elected to travel to Canberra at a mass gathering of Aboriginals at Alice Springs last week. .

The Minister said the request for the meeting■had followed an invitation to him to attend the Alice Springs meeting. He had been unable to go because of previous engagements in Western Australia.

The Government was pledged to honor its commitments . on land rights and he welcomed, this opportunity to discuss the . subject "to avoid misunderstanding" as the telegram from Mr. Perkins had stated.

The delegation would be met at. the airport by Senator Neville Bonner and would have meetings at the Department of Aboriginal Affairs with the Secretary and other officers before going to Parliament Hopse. ·
