The Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Mr Ian Uinsr today denied allegations by Mr Frank Hardy that grants to the Gurindji people at UJattie Creek had been rt opped. He said the allegations, which were repeated in a recent press report, were totally untrue.

; 1 Mr Viner said that $120,000 had been made available immediately after the lease was transferred to the Muramulla Gurindji Co Pty Ltd and that he recently had authorised provision of a further $140,900 to the Company.

a Other Government assistance to the Gurindji people inpluded suppbrt for the Daguragu Council which was responsible for Municipal Services at UJattie Creek.

Mr Viner said a grant of $76,000 to the Council had been approved for the 1975/76 financial year and that money was being released, as required. A payment of $8,400 had been made on 19 January, bringing to $45,000 the total grant paid to date. 1

The Minister said the Government would continue to assist the Gurindji people at UJattie Creek in the- same way as other Aboriginal communities were assisted. - '

Overall reductions in Government expenditure might reduce by some amount, the funds available to the Gurindji over the balance of the financial year but these reductions would be small and would form -part of 'reductions already announced of programs administered by his Department. -
