The Minister for Aboriginal Affairs, Senator Cavanagh,

announced today he had approved a grant of $25» 100 to the Yarrabah ■

Co-Operative Society. . ■

" Senator Cavanagh said the money would be used to

' provide a house for a baker, employed by the society.

. Senator Cavanagh said he believed the continuation of

the bakery encouraged as it not only provided employment

for three Aboriginals, but served as a reminder to the Yarrabah

people that Aboriginal people could compete profitably in the

business, world. "

. The Yarrabah’reserve is situated about 40 miles from

Cairns in Queensland. · ■ . '
