Brigadier K.D. Green is to be promoted

Major General and assume command of the 3rd Division

Citizen Military Forces from 13th January, 1870. In

announcing this today the Minister for Defence, Mr. Malcolm

Fraser, said that Major General S, M. McDonald,who had held

this appointment since December, 1866,would be placed on

the Retired List.

Mr. Fraser also announced that he had approved

the extension of Major General N. A. Vickery as CMF Member

of the Military Board for 12 months to 30th November, 1870,

This extension would enable the Military Board to t ake full

advantage of the recent overseas visit by General Vickery

in which he studied the Reserve Forces of the United

Kingdom, Canada and the United States of America.

Mr. Fraser said that the Army was most apprecĀ­

iative of the action of Mr. G.O. Reid, Victorian Attorney-

General, in granting General Vickery the necessary leave

from the Bench of the County Court to carry out his milĀ­

itary duties. '
