ROYAL AUSTRALIAN AIR FORCE PUBLIC RELATIONS NEWS RELEASE RAAF PR 34245/68

F-111 ACCIDENT IN UNITED STATES

It has been reported to the Department of Air

that an American F-111 aircraft crashed at Nellis Air Force

Base, USA at 2.35 p.m. (local time) on the 23rd September.

The report states that the crew ejected safely and,

it is understood, without injury.

One of the crew was Flight Lieut. Neil McMillan

Pollock, 33, an RAAF Navigator of Brisbane, Queensland, who

has been in the United States on conversion training. The pilot

was an officer of the United States Navy.

Fit Lt Pollock, is married with one son, Neil

Junior, aged 3· .
