STATEMENT BY THE ACTING MINISTER FOR AIR, MR. R.W. SWARTZ. MP

NEPTUNE AIRCRAFT FOR NEW ZEALAND EXERCISE

Two Royal Australian Air Force Neptune SP-2H maritime

reconnaissance aircraft will fly to New Zealand from Townsville,

Queensland, later this month to take part in a maritime exercise

with the Royal New Zealand Air Force.

The Acting Minister for Air, Mr Swartz, said today

that the exercise, titled 1Longex 68', would last from July 24th

till August 4th.

The RAAF aircraft, of No. 10 Squadron, RAAF Base,

Townsville, would be based at the Royal New Zealand Air Force

base at Whenuapai during the period of the exercise.

Mr. Swartz said that a C-130 Hercules transport aircraft

and associated support personnel from RAAF Base, Richmond, NSW,

would also take part in the exercise.
