AIDE-DE”CAMP TO THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN SOUTH AUSTRALIA

Wing Commander R.N. Law, the Commanding Officer of No 11

Squadron at RAAF Base, Edinburgh, has been appointed honorary aide-de­

camp to the Governor-General in South Australia.

His appointment follows the completion of a term of

appointment of Wing Commander K.G. Brinsley.

/Wing Commander Russell Noel Law was b o m at Ryde, Sydney, and enlisted in the RAAF as trainee aircrew in 1950. As a pilot, he flew Dakota

aircraft with No 38 Squadron at Richmond, NSW, and later with No 36

Squadron in Japan. On his return from overseas he completed a test

pilots1 course in England, and subsequently carried out an exchange tour

with the Royal Air Force as a test pilot at the Aeroplane and Armament

Experimental Establishment at Boscombe Down. In i960 he returned to

Australia and was posted to the Aircraft Research and Development Unit

at Laverton, Victoria, for test pilot duties. After a period of duty with

the Directorate of Flying Safety at Department of Air, Canberra, he

went to Italy for test flying and acceptance of the Macchi trainer aircraft.

He was posted to No 11 Squadron to be Commanding Officer in March, 1967·

In November, 1967, he was attached to the United States for training and

ferry duties on the Orion aircraft. He returned to Australia in May,

1968, and has once again taken over command of No 11 Squadron.
