AUSTRALIAN LEGAL AID OFFICE FOR TOWNSVILLE

' ■ Townsville's Australian Legal Aid Office will be

opened on Friday, October 11, 1974 at 2 p.m. by Mr A.W. Wynne,

Assistant Director of the Australian Legal Aid Office. .

The latest Australian Legal Aid Office is located

at 159-165 Flinders Street, Townsville, and the ■ .

officer-in-charge will be Mrs Suzanne Cahill.

' · The Australian Legal Aid Office was established by

the Australian Attorney-General, Senator Lionel Murphy, Q.C.,

to provide a 'general problem solving service of legal advice for all persons with an element of financial need'. Queensland

already has its State's headquarters in Brisbane and a

regional office at Ipswich, other regional offices will be

opened in the near future. ‘ ‘ . .

AMENDMENT TO PREVENT UNSOLICITED CREDIT CARDS

After the meeting of the Standing Committee of

Attorneys-General in Canberra today, the Attorney-General

of Australia, Senator Lionel Murphy, Q.C., said he would propose next week an amendment to the Trade Practices Act

to prevent unsolicited distribution of credit cards.
