STATEMENT 'BY THE COMMISSIONER OF COMMONWEALTH POLICE

MR J.M. DAVIS

The Commissioner of Commonwealth Police, Mr J.M. Davis,

said today that four persons wanted on warrant·for alleged breaches

of the. National Aervice Act had been arrested by Commonwealth Police

since July 26. . ' ' ' '

· ■ . Those arrested are Kim Robert Norman, 23, of Alder bury" . '

Street, Floreat -Park, Perth, David willoughby Buckle, 23, of ' - ' ■

Gotham Road, Kew, and David John Zerman, 21 , ' of St· .Kilda. Road, · " !

Norman was arrested in Perth on July 26 on an alleged ’ · ·

breach of Section.51 of the National Service Act for failing to . , ,

answer an call up notice. He appeared in court the same day and , , , ’ ?

bail has -been set for $1500 with a similar surety. / ' '

Buckle was arrested in Melbourne on July 29 for an

alleged breach of Section 49 of the National Service Act for _

failing to attend a medical examination. He appeared in the

Melbourne City Court the same day and was fined $50 •••ith $32

costs and was sentenced to 7 days imprisonment for failure to

enter a recognisance to attend a further medical examination.

O'Sullivan and Zerman were both arrested in Melbourne

today on alleged breaches of Section 49. O'Sullivan was remanded

in .the City Court to August 25 on bail of $200 and Zerman *'.·.. 6> .

was to appear before the court late this afternoon.
