The Minister for Shipping and Transport, the Hon. Hubert

Opperman , O.B.E., M.P., announced to-day that the new National

Line vessel, Mt, KEMBLA would undergo its sea trials off

Whyalla to-morrow (November 22) and. later this week»

Mr. Opperman said that, if these tests proved successful,

the ship would be commissioned on November 29»

The Mt. KEMBLA. would be given'running-in' trips on the

Shyalla/Port Kembla run and then be transferred to the

Yampi/Port Kembla service.

The sister ship to the new vessel, the Mt.KEIRA has

successfully completed test running on the Whyalla/Port Kembla,

service, following tail shaft difficulties. It would shortly

also transfer to the Yampi/Port Kembla service, Mr. Opperman

said.

The new cargo/trailer ship for the Tasmanian service -

the BuiSS TRADER will be launched at Newcastle State Dockyard

on December 3» It is expected to be in service by February/

March next year.
