Statement by the Minister for the Interior, Mr. Freeth.

An Australian colour film in cinemascope - "Paper Run" - has

wen an international award from 25 other nations at the Tenth InterĀ­

national Week of Tourist and Folklore Films jus concluded in Brussels.

Announcing this today, the Minister for the Interior, Mr.

Freeth, said that the film, which was produced by the News and

Information Bureau's Film Division, had received world-wide distribution.

The award was made by the Official Union of International

Travel Organisations which consists of the official tourist promotion

agencies of 66 nations.

Mr. Freeth said that "Paper Run" took its audiences along the

Palm Beach Peninsula of New South Wales in the company of a newsagent

making his early morning delivery round. When screened at one of New

York's leading theatres some time ago, the film had delighted American

audiences with its picturesque scenes of Australian surf beaches and its

amusing glimpses of the newsagent's unerring aim with his newspaper


Mr, Freeth said that it was gratifying to know that the first-

class job which the film was doing to promote tourism to Australia had

been recognised by the world's premier tourist promotion organisation.
