, IMMEDIATE RELEASE.

AUSTRALIANS TO SERVE IN ROYAL YACHT.

Australian sailors will serve on board the Royal yacht,

BRITANNIA, during next year's Royal Visit to Australia and

New Zealand. .

The Minister for the Navy, Senator Gorton, said today that

with the approval of Her Majesty the Queen, one officer and ten

ratings would be appointed to the Royal yacht.

month before the Royal yacht sails on the first stage of her passage

to New Zealand. The remainder of the R.A.N. ratings will join the

yacht on the New Zealand station.

The Australian officer has already been selected. He is

Lieutenant Christopher Hole, of South Australia, who was previously

the cadet training officer in H.M.A.S. SWAN.

The R.A.N. ratings to serve in BRITANNIA will represent .

a number of different branches, and will include seamen,

communications and engine-room personnel, as well as a cook and a

writer. These men are at present being selected. .

The Royal New Zealand Navy will be represented in the

"Royal yacht by one officer and five ratings. .

Some of the Australians will join BRITANNIA in England next
