The Postmaster-General, Mr. Alan Hulme, has advised

Mr. R. Davies, Federal Member for Braddon, that a National

Television Translator Station established at Stanley in Tasmania,

will begin regular transmissions on Friday, December 23·

This will be the seventh national translator to be

established in Australia,

The station is located on ''The Nut", overlooking the town

of Stanley. It will have a power output of 50 watts and will

relay on Channel 1, the programmes of the National Station at

Launceston - ABNT3.

The establishment of this station will provide improved

reception of A.B.C. television in the Stanley area.

Under an agreement with the Company controlling the

Commercial Station, Northern Television Ltd., both the National

and Commercial Translators are installed at the same site and

share a common building.

The main transmitting equipment was supplied by R.C.A. df

Australia Pty. ;Ltd. The 80ft. tower was supplied by ASCOM Pty.

Ltd., and erected by the Post Office.
