IMMEDIATE RELEASE

NAVAL COMMUNICATIONS CONFERENCE

Naval Communications will be discussed at a four-

nation conference which began in Canberra today.

Communications experts from the navies of Britain,

the United States, New Zealand and Australia are taking part.

The RAN’s Director of Communications (Commander

R.E. Lesh) is Chairman of the Conference which is being held at

Navy Office. It was opened by the Deputy Chief of the Naval

Staff (Rear Admiral R.I. Peek) and will last until Friday. .

The Overseas Officers attending the conference are the

Royal Navy’s Director of Communications (Captain N.E. Dalrymple-

Hamilton), the Fleet Communications Officer RN Far East Fleet

(Commander G.C. Lloyd), the Commanding Officer of the US Naval

Communications Station, North West Cape, (Commander A.P.

Czerwenka), theĀ· Royal New Zealand Navy’s Director of

Communications (Lieutenant Commander B.E. Lemonde) and two USN

officers from Honolulu Captain R.L. Wolf and Lieutenant ,

Commander C.F. Chaney. Captain Wolf is Chief of Staff for

Operations, Headquarters Commander, Anti-Submarine Warfare

Forces, Pacific. Lieutenant Commander Chaney is the Command’s

Staff Communications Officer.
